Deeply saddened to hear today ( via OB Huggy ) of Billy’s passing. We had great times as Billy loved his footy and I loved his skill, passion, competitiveness and humour. I feel privileged to have known Billy and to have worked with him. He made me happy. I have lost contact with him and family to whom , Rich especially, I send deepest condolences.

I first met Bill when he was House Captain of Barnes B in 1980. He had the House Captain’s study at the front of the house which he shared with Rick Blair. When he moved to Leigh Hunt A (when Peele B in its entirety moved across with John Denison) Bill, along with Paul Deller and Dave Ferguson were my guardians – I was the first girl at Christ’s Hospital, my father was Housemaster of Leigh Hunt B. I spent many weekends and evenings in the company of the Leigh Hunt A Grecian crowd – I also cut Bill’s hair as he preferred my cutting to the CH barbers! I remember him with much love and affection, a gentle, shy but lovely CH friend and very talented sportsman. I remember also Bill’s brother Rick who was I think too in Leigh Hunt A. Sending you lots of love Tanya

I was Billy’s Housemaster at Christ’s Hospital, and have the warmest memories of him: he was very public-spirited, talented, and always full of enthusiasm and fun. I am very saddened to hear of his death, and offer my deepest sympathy to all his family.

I am deeply sorry to hear of Billy’s passing, we were both at Christ’s Hospital and shared many years of the same trials and tribulations, antics and capers, so many great and treasured memories.
After CH, I was at Exeter University and spent some good times there with Ricky, mate, I am so shocked and saddened for you and all your family.

Only just learnt of Billy’s death, very sad. I was at CH with him and had the entertainment of propping up the front row of the 1st XV with him on our Grecians years. He loved sport and always had a smile on his face, many times making the changing rooms laugh despite the scoreline. Thoughts with all his family at this time.

Mr Macro was a teacher and a form tutor to me for several years whilst he taught at Warwick. I always found him to be a lovable character who cared deeply about his students. He was extremely diligent when it came to teaching and it was clear he had such immense passion for his work. He was somewhat a father figure for me and I regret not to have known him better. He will be missed a lot by myself and many of my peers at school.

Billy was a final year student in my first year of teaching at Christ’s Hospital. He was exactly the sort of person who made me realize that I had chosen the right place to work.

Really sorry to hear about Bill leaving us. He was a hero of mine at CH, more so when he decided what my nickname should be. Condolences to his family, and especially Rick (Ploppy) WHO I knew very well

One of the funniest people I have had the pleasure to work with. Kind, warm-hearted and caring to both staff and students. He will be greatly missed.
